Alex Rubin

Alex trained with Tolhurst Fisher and became a qualified solicitor in the commercial property department in 2017.

Alex acts for clients in acquisitions and sales of commercial property, legal charges, lettings and business sales.

Alongside this, Alex also specialises in all aspects of leasehold enfranchisement, acting for both landlords and tenants, advising them on a range of issues. This includes all aspects of voluntary and statutory lease extensions and freehold purchases and sales under the Leasehold Reform, Housing and Urban Development Act 1993. This includes houses under the Leasehold Reform Act 1967.

Alex has proficiency in acting for tenants against uncooperative freeholders in both lease extension and enfranchisements claims. This stems from his commercial approach and straight-talking attitude.

Case Studies
Alex was instructed by a tenant with a residential lease of 69 years to deal with the Tribunal aspect of her statutory lease extension claim. This related to all terms of acquisition and Section 60 costs remaining in dispute. Unfortunately, the solicitor originally instructed could not deal with the Tribunal application and subsequent work. Once in receipt of the paperwork, Alex swiftly took charge of the matter and reached an extremely satisfactory conclusion for the tenant, agreeing the terms of acquisition within a matter of days once the Tribunal application had been submitted. Section 60 costs were also later agreed avoiding the need for a costly Tribunal hearing.
